The Victorian Government is seeking feedback on what a new registration and accreditation scheme designed to protect people with disabilities will look like.
The new scheme will protect vulnerable people from harm, and support the development and growth of a quality disability workforce by making sure workers who care for people with a disability have the right skills, experience and qualifications.
A consultation paper is available for feedback, and forums are taking place across the state for people to have their say.
VCOSS members are invited to a consultation on Thursday 12 October at 10am - register here.
A report by researchers at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute highlights the importance the first 1,000 days has on a child's development and health.
New knowledge has revealed the significance of the first thousand days, and of the urgent need to reform policies, practices and systems in response.
The report finds disadvantage can be passed down through the generations at a cellularlevel. Biology changes in response to stress, poverty and other prolonged adverse experiences, and these changes can be passed on to children from their parents and grandparents.
