Strength of Woman

As part of this year’s International Women’s Day event, hosted by the City’s Women in Community Life Advisory Committee, attendees were invited to be part of a project titled Strength of a Woman.

36 women in total participated in the project, which involved having a photo taken and answering 3 questions on the topic.  The questions were as follows:

  • What do you think makes a woman strong?
  • When have you felt strong as a woman?
  • Why do we need strong women?

A quote was then captured from each woman’s answers and, along with the photograph, has been transformed into a series of portraits that highlight, capture and promote the strength of a woman as seen through the eyes of women across Geelong!

The photos will be exhibited during the Barwon Month of Action to Stop Men’s Violence Against Women and Children at an event that explores gender equity through a panel of speakers on their personal journeys and a celebration of women’s strength in our own community.

This email is an invitation to save the date for the exhibition. A more formal invite will be sent out shortly.  This will be an open community event with RSVP details to be provided via the formal invite.

Look forward to seeing you all there!
